Psychiatric Drugs and School Shootings: Columbine, Sandy Hook, and Red Lake Massacres Are Evidence
January 8, 2026 – Robert Carter
“Science shows that there is no link between school shootings and antidepressants.” So said Minnesota Senator Tina Smith in the January, 2025, televised RFK confirmation hearing. She has called for legislation to reduce prescription drug prices, but her populist public stance against Big Pharma is about their finances, not about their destructive prescriptions.
She’s actually a bit of a sheep in wolf’s clothing, as she has profited personally over the years from her investments in Big Pharma and her acceptance of their donations to her PACs. Fifty-four people were murdered at Columbine, Sandy Hook, and Red Lake. Each of the young perpetrators had been taking an antidepressant. That is evidence, Tina, and that evidence is an indictment. It calls for a trial to be held to determine if a crime has been committed by pharmaceutical manufacturers and prescribing psychiatrists.
“Study after study has not found a link between antidepressants and school shootings .” So said CNN host Erin Burnett to her Out Front television audience in November, 2024. She cited no studies to prove her point. CNN generated almost $60 million in ad revenue from pharmaceutical companies last year.
Big Pharma is financing these pro-drug spokespersons in Congress and across the media in America. They dismiss the observable evidence from these school shootings as unscientific and anecdotal, but they squelch any inquiries into gathering more data.
When Able Child, a non-profit organization for children’s rights, filed a Freedom of Information Act to request the release of school shooter Adam Lanza’s medical records, Patrick B. Kwanashie, Assistant Attorney General for the State of Connecticut, argued against the request by claiming that the release of such information could “ cause a lot of people to stop taking their medications .”
But that’s exactly what should happen, isn’t it, given the danger for violence from these prescriptions?
How many future suicides and mass shootings would that prevent, Patrick?
